University Diagnostic Medical Imaging, PC (UDMI) has disclosed a data breach that compromised sensitive personal and protected health information of thousands of individuals. The breach has raised concerns regarding the security of patient data entrusted to UDMI.
On November 26, 2024, UDMI identified a security incident affecting its computer network. Upon discovery, the company immediately launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to assess the scope and impact of the breach. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party had accessed certain files and folders containing confidential patient information for a limited period on the same day.
According to available information, the data potentially exposed in the breach includes individuals’ names, addresses, dates of birth, referring physicians, and medical treatment or diagnosis details. UDMI officially reported the breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) on January 21, 2025. The organization is expected to notify affected individuals in the coming days through data breach notification letters.
Individuals who receive a data breach notification from UDMI are advised to take precautionary steps, including monitoring financial statements, reviewing credit reports, and considering identity theft protection services. Additionally, the law firm Levi & Korsinsky, LLP is investigating the incident to determine whether affected individuals may be entitled to compensation. The firm, known for its consumer advocacy, is offering free consultations to those impacted by the breach and operates on a contingency basis, meaning clients are not required to pay unless compensation is secured.
