Nashua School District dealing with ‘sophisticated’ cyberattack

The Nashua School District, which has over 10,000 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1, was hit by a sophisticated cyberattack on Sunday, impacting the district’s computer systems.

School Superintendent Mario Andrade said in a statement that the district is working hard with a third-party investigator to determine the nature and scope of the attack, confirm its impact on the systems, and securely restore functionality as soon as possible. He said that the district has put significant resources into this process.

The investigation is currently looking for answers about how the cyber attack occurred, how it occurred, what records were lost or stolen, and to whom it was lost or stolen. Because the scope of the attack is unknown, experts advise parents, students, and staff to be aware that any of their personal information may have been compromised.
