Le Slip Français discloses data breach, customer information compromised

French high-quality underwear company Le Slip Français has announced a data breach, revealing that some customer data was stolen following a malicious cyber attack on April 15th. The company, known for its 100% French-origin products, confirmed the breach on its website, reassuring customers that no account passwords or payment card data were compromised.

While the breach is contained, Le Slip Français closely monitors the situation to detect potential fraud and inform users accordingly. Additionally, the company promptly reported the incident to the French Data Protection Authority CNIL and other judicial authorities.

Security consultant Troy Hunt, operating the data breach search website Have I Been Pwned, noted that the leaked data surfaced on a popular hacking forum five days prior. The data, shared by a threat actor named shopifyGUY, allegedly includes 696,144 customer details such as email addresses, names, phone numbers, physical addresses, and purchase histories, totaling 1,506,395 emails.

Hunt speculates that the hacker’s alias suggests leaked Shopify keys as the common vector for these breaches, citing the consistent JSON format in which the data appears. Le Slip Français is now confronting the breach’s aftermath and is committed to addressing potential fraudulent activities while reinforcing its cybersecurity measures to prevent future incidents.
