Trump Mobile customer data exposed through website vulnerability, researchers say

Trump Mobile, the wireless provider and smartphone brand launched under President Donald Trump’s name, is facing scrutiny after researchers discovered a vulnerability in its preorder website that exposed customer information, including names, physical addresses, and email addresses.

The issue came to light Tuesday after YouTubers Coffeezilla and Cr1TiKaL, also known as penguinz0, disclosed that they had been contacted by a researcher who demonstrated access to customer data tied to orders for the company’s gold-colored T1 smartphone.

“I know that because sadly I am one of those customers whose mailing address, email address, everything short of credit card number is being leaked,” Coffeezilla said in a video discussing the incident. “Do not order on trumpmobile.com unless you’re ready for your information to be leaked. It’s basically that bad.”

The researcher told the YouTubers that the vulnerability allowed access to the entire preorder database and made it possible to place fake orders through the website.

“Long story short, I found a vulnerability in the Trump T1 Mobile preorder website and gained the ability to both place fake orders, but also to scrape and search the entire preorder database,” the individual said in messages shared by Coffeezilla.

Both creators said they purchased the T1 device out of curiosity rather than political support and later confirmed their own personal details were included in the exposed records.

The researcher also said repeated attempts to contact Trump Mobile about the vulnerability were unsuccessful. Cr1TiKaL said those trying to report the issue had received “radio silence” from the company.

The YouTubers withheld technical details about the flaw, saying the vulnerability remained active and could still be exploited online. No credit card information was reported as exposed.

The leaked database also appears to reveal significantly lower preorder figures than previously estimated. Coffeezilla said the exposed records suggested roughly 30,000 phone orders and approximately 10,000 unique customers.

Those figures contrast sharply with earlier estimates that projected roughly 590,000 to 600,000 preorders for the T1 smartphone, which required a $100 reservation fee.

The T1 smartphone has faced repeated scrutiny and delays since its launch announcement last year. Trump Mobile initially promoted the device as a “Made in the USA” smartphone. More recent marketing materials describe it instead as a product “designed with American values in mind” and “shaped by American innovation.”

Reviewers and technology observers have also questioned the device’s design and manufacturing origins. Some noted that the phone resembles a previously released HTC smartphone, raising speculation that the T1 may be a rebranded existing device.

Additional criticism emerged after promotional graphics for the phone displayed an American flag containing 11 stripes rather than the standard 13, although some observers suggested the company’s logo may have been intended to complete the design.

The company’s preorder system has also experienced operational issues since launch. Earlier attempts to order the device reportedly resulted in failed transactions and incorrect charges during the checkout process.
