Sensitive data of nearly 50,000 individuals compromised in Renkim cyber security incident

American data management & communication solutions company Renkim Corporation said a data security incident it suffered earlier this year compromised the sensitive personal information of almost 50,000 individuals.

Based in Southgate, Michigan, Renkim Corporation provides print and digital communication services, along with payment processing for industries such as healthcare, finance, and automotive.

In a data security incident notice published on its website, Renkim said that on March 3, it identified suspicious activity within its internal network. The company immediately launched an investigation, with assistance from external cyber security experts, to determine the nature and scope of the incident.

“Based on the investigation, the suspicious activity started on March 2, 2025, and we believe that an unauthorised third party may have obtained files including personal information,” Renkim said.

The compromised data included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, contact information, client names, client account numbers, and dates of service. In a filing with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Renkim said it has identified at least 46,592 individuals impacted by the incident.

“We hired third-party experts to address this situation, investigate the unauthorised activity, and further secure our systems to protect your information. We also notified law enforcement,” the company added.

Renkim has advised all affected individuals to regularly monitor their credit reports, account and benefit statements and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities, including the police and the state attorney general.

It has also offered one year of complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services through Experian Identity Works to all affected individuals.

At the time of publishing, no known hacker group claimed responsibility for the cyber attack on Renkim. The data management company also did not share details on who was behind the attack, how much data was compromised, or whether it has received a ransom demand.
