LockBit group says it stole over 700 GB of data from British logistics company Owens Group

British logistics company Owens Group has reportedly suffered a significant data security incident that compromised confidential company data and the sensitive personal information of its drivers, employees, and clients.

Reports of the data security incident surfaced after the notorious Lockbit ransomware group claimed responsibility for breaching Owens Group and listed the company as a victim on its data leak site. According to screenshots shared by FalconFeedsio on X, the group exfiltrated 710 gigabytes of data from the company’s internal network.

The data theft reportedly compromised the company’s financial information such as budgets, cash flow, balance sheets, tax returns, project calculations, bank statements, and more.

The stolen data also included the sensitive personal details of employees and drivers, including their National Insurance numbers, driver’s license numbers, unique taxpayer reference numbers, personal identifiable data like dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passport scans, contract details, salary and bonus details, and more.

The Lockbit ransomware group also claimed that it stole Owens Group’s customer database that stored customers’ addresses, phone numbers, payment information, cargo details and more.

It is not clear when the ransomware group infiltrated Owens Group’s network, but according to the screenshot, it gave the company a deadline of November 15 to meet its ransom demands. The ransomware group published the stolen data on its data leak site after the group failed to furnish the amount within the deadline.

Owens Group is yet to share an official statement in regards to the claims of the Lockbit ransomware group, so the authenticity of the hacker group’s claims is yet to be verified. However, the official website of Owens Group is presently under maintenance.

“Our website is currently undergoing maintenance to enhance your online experience with us. While our team is working diligently behind the scenes, we want to keep you informed and engaged,” the group said in a message posted on its website.
