Victorian Freight Specialists (VFS), a freight company serving regional Victoria and southern NSW, is reportedly the target of a cyberattack by a hacking group known as GhostR.
According to a post on a popular hacking forum on June 4th, GhostR claims to have breached VFS’s server network on May 26th and stolen over 846 gigabytes of data. The post further alleges that the stolen data includes information from VFS’s corporate, accounting, sales, customer, agent, and freight databases.
GhostR included a link that supposedly contains sample data from the hack, but the link currently leads to an error message. However, cybersecurity news website GovInfoSecurity reported accessing the data as "internal data taken from an SQL database and screenshots of login screens."
VFS, headquartered in Dandenong, Victoria, operates several depots in the state and has a network of 26 agents across regional Victoria. As of publishing, the company’s website is unavailable, though it remains unclear if this is related to the alleged cyberattack.
Cybersecurity news outlet Cyber Daily has reportedly contacted VFS to comment on the incident, but the company has not responded publicly. GhostR, known for previous high-profile hacks in Thailand and India, appears to be gaining notoriety in cybersecurity.
