Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust dealing with a cyber attack

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, a public sector healthcare provider that provides local general hospital and community services to around 260000 people in Walsall and the surrounding areas, was hit by a cyberattack.

The cyber incident happened on the evening of March 10. The trust, which operates Walsall Manor Hospital, stated that the incident had been contained and that the investigation would aid in understanding the full scope and impact of what had occurred.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), a data watchdog, have both been notified and are now assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s chief information officer, Rich Pearson, stated that the trust is currently dealing with the fallout from the cyber incident. The trust urged people to remain vigilant in the presence of any suspicious activity until the investigation is completed. If patients have any concerns, they should contact pals.officer@nhs.net.
