The Everest hacking group has claimed responsibility for breaching Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, alleging the theft of approximately 900 gigabytes of sensitive data from the company’s systems. The claimed intrusion was observed on January 10, 2026, and remains pending independent verification.

The threat actor released limited sample material to support the claim, but the full scope and nature of the data involved have not been comprehensively disclosed. If confirmed, the volume of data allegedly exfiltrated would represent a significant cybersecurity incident with potential implications for operations, employee records, intellectual property, and customer information.

Nissan operates a global manufacturing and supply network spanning vehicle production, components, and integrated systems. Any confirmed compromise at that scale could have downstream effects on production schedules, supplier relationships, and business continuity across multiple regions.

The breach claim surfaced through monitoring of clear and dark web activity conducted by Hackmanac, which tracks emerging cyber threats. The alert was categorized as an active cyberattack incident under a cybercrime threat classification, signaling possible ongoing activity linked to the alleged intrusion.

Under Hackmanac’s advisory methodology, no confidential or proprietary data associated with the alert was downloaded, copied, or redistributed by the monitoring entity. Sensitive elements displayed in supporting materials were redacted to limit additional exposure and protect remaining operational security.

The incident remains under review, with verification expected to involve analysis of technical indicators, data signatures, and communications attributed to the threat actor, as well as coordination with law enforcement where appropriate. An impact assessment using established scoring models is expected to provide further clarity on severity and potential consequences once verification is completed.

Nissan has not publicly confirmed the incident. Stakeholders, regulators, and supply chain partners are expected to monitor for official statements addressing breach confirmation, affected systems, and remediation measures as the investigation continues.
