Halfords has been fined £30,000 by the UK’s data watchdog for breaking the law governing nuisance marketing by sending hundreds of thousands of unsolicited marketing emails to the public to promote the “Fix Your Bike” government scheme.
The rules called the Digital Markets Act sets out a list of dos and don’ts for Amazon, Apple, Meta, Alphabet unit Google and Microsoft, with fines for violations as much as 20% of their annual global turnover.
