Leading journalist Edward Lucas describes the risks to business from these new cyber security rules, as well as the advantages to European consumers.
Edward Lucas from The Economist explains that the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation will impose very high standards for the protection of personal data as well as setting the possibility for very high fines in the event of data breaches and weak cyber security processes.
He describes it as a burden to incompetent, the arrogant and organisations who are careless with personal data. But it provides considerable protection for consumers and the chance for redress in the event of a cyber security incident.
At #teissLondon2017 in London, expert speakers addressed 400 information security industry leaders as part of discussions on how to build an agile cyber security culture.
