Tokens taken: 50 milions Facebook accounts hacked

Upto 600m user passwords were stored on Facebook servers in plain text

Were you requested to log in your Facebook account recently? Then you are very likely one of 90 million users that were victims of a massive hacking attack.

Facebook revealed on Friday 28 September that an unknown group of hackers or one hacker exploited three vulnerabilities available through the “View As” option and stole tokens of 50 million accounts. Since they used the Facebook API, no passwords were required to access various user data.

According to The Hacker News, Facebook first noticed traffic spike in the beginning of last week which eventually led to the most significant security blunder in Facebook’s history.
