Some people would kill to get tickets for the National Football League’s Super Bowl. Others exploit Microsoft’s relationship with the NFL.
Jeff Tran, Microsoft’s former director of sports marketing, had originally been in charge with supervising Microsoft’s relationship with the NFL. This included keeping an eye on the benefits that resulted from the relationship such as the right to purchase Super Bowl tickets for the company’s perks.
By using fake business names he got the promotional firms to submit fake invoices and eventually purchased more than 60 tickets for his own use. His contacts, though, became suspicious and reported him to Microsoft. Once being confronted with the fraudulent documents however, he claimed to have been hacked.
