Jordan M. Schroeder

Deputy MD & Managing CISO

I am a sector-agnostic CISO with an extensive, proven history of successfully delivering business-critical security projects at a national level. A forward-thinking, award-winning leader in technical and non-technical information security.

I have designed and led information security programmes for public and private sector organisations in the US, Canada, and the UK who were in the midst of extensive business and digital transformation. I have worked with tech startups, governments, and some of the oldest organisations in the world around improving and assuring cybersecurity, cyber risk, cyber resiliency, and data protection to promote business acceleration and innovation.

Cybersecurity is a result of people and technology working together towards an objective. You do not gain security by focusing on people or technology in isolation but rather by supporting the complex relationships that connect people, processes, technology, and data. That makes cybersecurity a Business issue, not an IT issue.

“PrivSec200” Top 100 security leaders in Europe. 2019 inaugural recognition by Data Protection World Forum
“CISO of the Year” 2018 by Cyber Security Awards

Human Factors Analysis Classification System

Passionate cyber professional skilled as an executive with strong leadership skills, management experience and programme management. As a seasoned Client-Facing expert, having drawn my initial skills early in my career as a flight attendant, through business ownership I became adept at PCI/DSS compliance and regulations, ecommerce TLS requirements, internal/network security and physical location security. BYOD controls and compliance were critical to manage as well as governance, risk management and regular internal audits.

Prior to entering cybersecurity, I was the CEO and Founder of Pedal Chic, the first women-specific bike shop in North America. I built the brand, won national awards, and designed a full line of bicycles for a niche market. It was an amazing experience. Until my company suffered an insider threat attack.

That experience changed the course of my life and has brought me to this new career and the opportunity to work to develop the first HFACS-Cyber framework with an amazing research team.

This education and framework will enable me to delve into my new passion – to help other CEO’s, business owners and organisations learn about human factors and work to build a robust information security culture and incident response investigations and protect against an internal cyber breach. Connect with me to learn more about the Human Factors Analysis Classification System for Cyber Security and how how learning from a breach can help your organisation become more proactive.
