Emily Taylor, Editor, Journal of Cyber Policy

Emily Taylor specialises in cybersecurity, internet law and governance, digital gender inclusion, and surveillance laws. She is the CEO of Oxford Information Labs Limited, a cyber intelligence consultancy. Emily is the Editor of the Journal of Cyber Policy, an Associate Fellow of Chatham House, International Security Programme, an Affiliate Professor at the Dirpolis Institute, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, and a Research Associate at the University of Oxford Internet Institute. Emily has participated as a volunteer in many groups, including the Internet Governance Forum Multistakeholder Advisory Group, and has chaired committees on security and privacy at ICANN. She is the author of numerous reports on cybersecurity-related issues, and has devised and teaches compact seminars and master classes on internet law for regulators and post-graduate students. A qualified lawyer (now non-practising), Emily began working in the Internet environment in 1999, and was director of Legal and Policy at Nominet UK. She is a sought-after chair, moderator, trainer and commentator on cyber issues, including for broadcast news, the Guardian, Slate, Wired, SC Magazine and New Statement, and the BBC Now Show.

Karl Knowles, Global Head of Cyber | CISO, HFW

Karl began his career as a communications engineer in the British Army. At the second half of his career he was employed within multiple information security roles, advising senior military leadership on the global deployment of information and communications systems. He then built upon this successful 25 year military career moving to consultancy at BSI and then, Deloitte LLP. It was during this time that Karl quickly established himself as a subject matter expert, advising private and public clients towards the development of improved cyber and privacy strategies. He is a champion of veterans employment and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security

James is an Information Security multi-disciplinarian; with a particular focus on cloud security and Greenfield security strategy.

James is technical but not a programmer. James’s career has spanned small companies and large corporations, in sectors ranging from charities to financial services.
