The teissAwards2020 – our inaugural awards’ ceremony – proved to be a resounding success. The glamorous affair took place on the evening of the 12th February 2020 in London during teissLondon2020. The champagne flowed, the orchestra played and Gary Delaney (of BBC2’s Mock The Week fame) provided hilarity for the evening. (Yes, even cyber security can be funny).
In fact, we have proof. We loved this tweet from CISO, Paul Watts:
Had a LOT of fun with @GaryDelaney at the teissAwards2020 tonight;getting a kudos point from the comedy master for my impromptu ransomware joke has made my day! 😊 Your Wikipedia edits were hilarious! Thanks for a fun evening fella; definitely coming to see you gig soon! 👍

But the evening wasn’t just about comedy. The teissAwards2020 recognises industry excellence and innovation in cyber and information security across Europe. It’s a chance for security vendor organisations to compete for prestigious awards, judged by an independent panel of experts.
Those distinguished experts were, Paul Taylor, Partner & UK Lead for Cyber in the Boardroom, KPMG, Martin Smith MBE, Founder SASIG, Deborah Haworth, CISO, Penguin Random House UK, Nick Nagle, CISO, Security Architect & Technical Lead (Next Gen SOC), A.P. Moller – Maersk, Sue Milton, Member of ISACA’s UK & Ireland Advocacy Group, Jeremy Swinfen Green, author and Head of Consulting, teiss, Paul Watts, CISO, Kantar, and Thom Langford, Founder, TL(2) Security.
The awards focus on the contribution of organisations and technologies that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of information security in the past 12 months.
The categories for the teissAwards2020 cover 8 key strategic areas of information security, capturing examples of industry excellence.
The judging was tough, I hear, but someone’s got to take an award home at the end of the night.
