Biography

Carmel is a Human Capital Strategist for Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet, supporting organisations to realise the value of their human capital investment.  As organisations face unprecedented convergence of social, technological, political, and ecological forces Carmel is helping organisations create a human-centered organisational design as a framework to balance the needs of the organisation with those of its employees, customers, and community.  Over a thirty-year career at IBM, Carmel held a number of local and global roles in research & development, consulting services and business operations. Having qualified as an Organisational Psychologist she held the position of Talent Manager for IBM’s Ireland Lab. Prior to retiring from IBM, Carmel also set-up IBM’s first European Technology for Good team within IBM’s Corporate Social Responsibility division, creating solutions to address critical social issues including human trafficking and homelessness. As an advocate for in lifelong learning and shaping the future work, Carmel chairs Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet’s Cyber Security Skills Initiative (CSI) Advisory Board, is a member of the board of Cyber Ireland and leads Cyber Ireland’s Talent and Skills workgroup.  Carmel is also a member of a Cyber Education Working Group hosted by the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment and a member of Cyber Women Ireland.
