Yellow Corp. discloses data breach affecting residents in Texas, Massachusetts and Vermont

Yellow Corp., an American transportation holding company headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, has disclosed a data breach after identifying suspicious activity on its computer network on or about March 27, 2025. The company and its affiliated debtors are operating as debtors-in-possession under jointly administered Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, filed under Case No. 23-11069 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Yellow launched an investigation with third-party cybersecurity specialists after detecting the activity and determined that unauthorized parties accessed and removed certain files from its network on March 27, 2025. The company then reviewed the affected files to identify what personal information they contained and which individuals were impacted.

That review found the exposed information may include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license or state identification card numbers, passport numbers, other government-issued identification numbers, financial account numbers, payment card numbers, medical information and health insurance information.

The breach affected 13,183 Texas residents, 491 Massachusetts residents and 37 Vermont residents. Yellow reported the incident to the California Attorney General and posted a notice on its website. The company said the substantial majority of those affected were former Yellow employees.

Yellow is offering free resources to affected individuals, including instructions for accessing free annual credit reports, placing fraud alerts and setting up credit freezes with the three major credit reporting bureaus. The company urged people to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud, review their account statements, monitor their credit reports for suspicious activity and promptly report unusual transactions to their credit card company, bank, healthcare provider or insurance company.
