Rödl Management, Inc., a global business services provider headquartered in Bavaria, Germany, offering a wide range of services, including legal advisory, tax consulting, business process outsourcing, and IT consulting, officially disclosed a data breach affecting sensitive information of individuals linked to Jamestown, LP and its affiliate, JT Tax Services LP.
The breach resulted from unauthorized access to Rödl’s computer network, compromising the personal information of an undisclosed number of individuals. The data breach incident was first identified on February 9, 2024, when Rödl detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Rödl immediately secured its systems and reported the matter to federal law enforcement. The company also enlisted the help of third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation.
The investigation revealed that the unauthorized party had accessed Rödl’s computer network between January 30, 2024, and February 9, 2024. During this period, the unauthorized actor gained access to confidential consumer information, including data associated with clients of Jamestown, LP, and JT Tax Services. Rödl subsequently informed these clients of the breach on July 15, 2024.
After confirming the breach, Rödl Management undertook a detailed review of the compromised files to determine the extent of the information exposed. The investigation concluded that the breached data primarily included individuals’ names and Social Security numbers.
On August 12, 2024, Rödl Management began notifying affected individuals through data breach notification letters. These letters provide recipients with specific details regarding the compromised information and steps they can take to protect themselves from potential identity theft and fraud.
