Mount Sinai Health System has agreed to pay more than $5.2 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the hospital network improperly shared patient information with Facebook through online tracking tools.
The settlement covers individuals who accessed their Mount Sinai MyChart account via mychart.mountsinai.org between Oct. 27, 2020, and Oct. 27, 2023. Plaintiffs claimed the health system violated privacy rights by allowing Facebook Pixel and similar technologies to collect sensitive data from patient portal activity.
Mount Sinai, which provides care to more than 1.5 million patients annually, has not admitted any wrongdoing but consented to a $5,256,588 settlement to resolve the case. Eligible class members may receive a cash payment, though the exact amount will depend on the number of claims filed. No payout estimates are currently available.
Individuals who wish to object to or exclude themselves from the settlement must do so by Oct. 14, 2025, which is also the deadline for submitting claims. A final approval hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24, 2025.
If approved, payments will be distributed to qualified claimants following court authorization.
