Financial services provider Marquis Software Solutions reported that a data security incident in August exposed the personal information of thousands of individuals connected to more than 70 banks and credit unions across the United States.

Marquis Software Solutions has disclosed that a data security incident in August compromised the personal information of thousands of people linked to over 70 U.S. banks and credit unions.
Headquartered in Plano, Texas, Marquis is a financial services provider that provides data analytics, CRM tools, compliance reporting, and digital marketing services to mortgage lenders, banks, and credit unions.
In a data security incident notice filed with several state regulators, Marquis said that on August 14, it detected suspicious activity within its internal network and determined that it was a victim of a ransomware attack.
The financial services provider immediately launched an investigation, with assistance from external cyber security experts, to determine the nature and scope of the incident. It also took steps to secure the affected systems and notified relevant law enforcement authorities about the same.
“The investigation revealed that an unauthorised third party accessed Marquis’ network through its SonicWall firewall on August 14, 2025, and may have acquired certain files from its systems,” Marquis said.
The compromised data included names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, Taxpayer Identification Numbers, financial account information without security or access codes.
Marquis submitted notifications in Maine, Massachusetts, Iowa, and Texas indicating that the incident affected more than 400,000 customers across over 74 banks and credit unions.
While the healthcare management company found no evidence of the compromise data being misused, it has advised all affected individuals to regularly monitor their credit reports, account and benefit statements and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities, including the police and the state attorney general.
It has also offered complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services through Epiq to all affected individuals.
