Kimco Staffing Services reports data breach, exposing sensitive information

Kimco Staffing Services, Inc. (Kimco) has disclosed a data breach incident to the Attorney General of Maine, uncovering unauthorized access to its IT network. The breach, detected on June 24, 2023, allowed entry to sensitive data, including names and Social Security numbers of individuals connected to or previously associated with the company.

Following the detection, Kimco swiftly secured its network and engaged external cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach’s extent and potential impact on confidential data. The investigation confirmed unauthorized access to sections of Kimco’s network, housing files containing confidential information linked to current and former company affiliates.

During this breach, Kimco conducted a thorough review to ascertain the compromised data, particularly affecting employee information, and subsequently disseminated breach notification letters on December 19, 2023. These letters aim to inform affected individuals about the specific information exposed.
