Hacker steals sensitive data from Muah.ai, exposing user interactions with NSFW chatbots

A massive data breach has hit Muah.ai, an AI-powered platform designed for NSFW companion chats, raising significant concerns over the exposure of highly sensitive user information. The breach, reported by 404 Media, includes chatbot prompts detailing users’ intimate and often explicit fantasies, many of which are linked to personal email addresses that reveal real names.

Muah.ai, a service that allows users to engage in sexual conversations with AI chatbots, exchange photos, and even participate in voice chats, had assured users that their communications were encrypted and that no data was sold to third parties. However, the stolen data paints a different picture, exposing private interactions that many users would not want associated with their real identities.

The hacker responsible for the breach described Muah.ai as a “handful of open-source projects duct-taped together,” suggesting that the platform’s vulnerabilities were easy to exploit. The breach not only exposed personal data but also revealed explicit content, including disturbing references to children, which are particularly alarming given the platform’s policy of minimal censorship.

Muah.ai claims to support freedom of speech, stating that “any topic can be discussed without running into a wall” and touting its stance on not actively censoring or filtering AI interactions. This lack of moderation has led to an influx of explicit and controversial content, including child-related material. While the platform insists that it employs a team of moderators to suspend or delete child-related content, reports suggest that users discussing underage AI characters were met with dismissive responses from moderators on the platform’s Discord server.

The administrator of Muah.ai attributed the breach to competitors in the uncensored AI industry, but the service’s lax moderation and security measures have cast doubt on its ability to protect user data and uphold its community standards. The breach raises broader concerns about the rise of uncensored AI apps, which offer a variety of role-play scenarios, including those designed to simulate long-term romantic relationships.
