easySim.global confirms data breach; customer information exposed

Mobile provider easySim.global, a member of the easyGroup family of brands, recently disclosed a data breach impacting a portion of its customer base. The company confirmed that a hacker gained unauthorized access to one of its servers on August 5th, exposing customer names and email addresses. In a small number of cases, customer phone numbers were also compromised.

The company has assured customers that no passwords, payment details, or eSIMs were accessed in the breach. The vulnerability that allowed the attack has been addressed, and the company states its systems are now secure.

Alarmingly, easySim.global confirmed the hacker has contacted some affected customers via email. The company encourages customers to report any suspicious messages.

easySim.global has notified the UK’s Information Commissioners Office (ICO) of the breach. Impacted customers have also been informed via email, with notifications going out as recently as this week.

The ICO could potentially impose a financial penalty on easySim.global, though investigations typically take a considerable amount of time. easySim.global has issued a statement on its website, largely echoing the information provided in the customer emails. The company reiterates that only affected customers will receive a notification.
