Global Crossing Airlines said it suffered a significant data security incident impacting several key sections of its internal network.
Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Global Crossing Airlines, doing business as GlobalX Airlines is an American charter airline that operates the majority of deportation flights on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, including flights deporting Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday, GlobalX said that on May 5, it identified unauthorised activity within its internal network. The airline company immediately launched an investigation, with assistance from external cyber security experts, to determine the nature and scope of the incident.
As a precaution, GlobalX activated its incident response protocols, took actions to contain the incident and isolated the affected systems to prevent further intrusion. It also notified relevant law enforcement authorities about the incident and is working with them to resolve it at the earliest.
“Given the recency of the incident, our investigation and response are ongoing, and the full scope, nature, and potential ultimate impact on the Company are not yet known. The Company currently believes that none of its operations have been disrupted or negatively impacted by this incident. Although the Company is unable to predict the full impact of this incident, the Company does not expect the incident will have a material effect on the Company, or its financial condition or results of operations,” GlobalX said in its SEC filing.

A group of threat actors, using the moniker “Anonymous” claimed responsibility for the cyber attack on GlobalX. The group said that the cyber attack was a result of the company’s association with the Trump administration in deporting Venezuelan gang members from the country.
“Anonymous has decided to enforce the Judge’s order since you and your sycophant staff ignore lawful orders that go against your fascist plans,” the group posted on X.
