Brightstar Global Solutions Reports Major Data Breach Impacting Over 100,000 People

Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation, a prominent American gaming company, recently reported a data security breach that exposed sensitive personal information of more than 100,000 individuals.

Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation manufactures and supplies gaming equipment. The Company offers games, lottery, digital, and sports betting equipment and platforms. Brightstar Global Solutions serves digital and social gaming markets worldwide.

In a data security incident notice submitted to the Office of the Maine Attorney General, Brightstar said that on November 17, it identified unauthorised activity within its internal network. The gaming company immediately launched an investigation, with assistance from external cyber security experts, to determine the nature and scope of the incident.

It also took steps to secure the affected network and notified relevant law enforcement authorities about the incident.

“Due to the complex and unstructured nature of the impacted data, our investigation required a detailed manual review of the data to determine what personal information was involved in accordance with applicable laws. We completed this review on August 21, 2025, and are reaching out to you to let you know that the incident involved some of your personal information,” Brightstar said.

The compromised data included names, contact information, dates of birth, government identification documents or government identification numbers such as driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers, other tax identifiers, financial account information, health data, and more.

The filing with the Maine state regulator’s office also states that Brightstar has identified 103,879 individuals affected by the incident.

While the gaming company found no evidence of the compromise data being misused, it has advised all affected individuals to regularly monitor their credit reports, account and benefit statements and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities, including the police and the state attorney general.

It has also offered two years of complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services through Kroll to all affected individuals.

At the time of publishing, no known hacker group claimed responsibility for the cyber attack on Brightstar. The gaming company also did not share details on who was behind the attack, how much data was compromised, or whether it had received a ransom demand.
