A hacker, identified as "888", has reportedly leaked a database containing personal and contact details of 32,828 individuals, allegedly current and former employees of Accenture, a global IT services and consulting giant headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, operating in over 120 countries with approximately 742,000 employees.
The data posted on Breach Forums on June 19, 2024, includes full names and email addresses but no passwords. The breach, attributed to a third-party firm, highlights ongoing cybersecurity challenges involving external vendors.
According to sources, Hackread.com has verified the authenticity of the leaked data. The hacker "888" has a history of leaking employee data from major corporations, including Nestle, Heineken, and Riyadh Airport. Recently, the same hacker listed datasets for Shell and Heineken employees.
Accenture has been contacted for a response but has yet to issue a statement. Despite its robust cybersecurity measures, the company has previously faced significant cyber threats, including a confirmed data theft by the Lockbit ransomware group in 2021.
The breach underscores the risk posed by third-party data vulnerabilities, a growing concern in recent cybersecurity incidents involving high-profile companies like Ticketmaster, American Express, and Santander Bank.
The leaked data, while not including sensitive information such as passwords, could pose phishing attacks and identity theft risks. Accenture employees are advised to be vigilant against fraudulent activities leveraging this information.
