Do you remember TRITON also known as Trisis (yes it does sound like an ancient god) from last December? The Central Scientific Research Institute of Chemistry and Mechanics is now claimed to be involved in the development of the divine malware.
Cyber security firm FireEye has recently found evidence that the Russian-owned institute significantly contributed in the creation of the malware. According to The Hacker News TRITON targets Triconex Safety Instrument Systems (SIS) controllers manufactured by Schneider and helps to spot vulnerabilities and dangerous states. As these specific controllers are mostly used in oil and gas facilities the malware has a high potential to cause severe and life-threatening breakdowns.
